This is a feel good story about a man who arrived in our province from a foreign country, with only $14 in his pocket, and went on to great success.

What is believed to be the largest charitable gift in B.C. history has been donated by a man who came to the province with almost nothing to his name.

A charitable foundation set up by developer John Jambor, who arrived from Slovakia in 1928 with $14 in his pocket, has handed over a $21.4-million donation to the B.C. Cancer Agency.

The CBC’s Alan Waterman reports.
